Parody Oh Parody

Parody oh parody
What have you done to me?
The WordPress Board of Ethics are
Chasing after me

You’ve parodied our daffodils
Such pretty little flowers
That shoot each year in springtime
Helped up by rainy showers

What the Ethics Board are up in arms about

No sense of humour…..

  1. Sad that the Wikipedia definition seems to have taken root. Parody, as far as I have understood, is not specially intended to mock or poke fun at the original.

      1. Hmm. Well, for me parody uses an original idea, story-line, or concept to create a new, silly story-line. For example, Harvard Lampoon created “Bored of the Rings” as a parody of “Lord of the Rings” – but I do not think they were trying to diminish Tolkein or his popular (and brilliant) books. Also, “Weird Al” Yankovic specializes in creating parodies of popular songs, but he is not making fun of the original artists… he is just HAVING fun.

        See what I mean?

Now, satire on the other hand… if you’ve never read The Onion or The Babylon Bee, you don’t know what you’re missing.
