A recent study from the Journal of the American Dentistry Association shows that redheads tend to be more afraid of going to the dentist and are twice as likely to avoid dental care — presumably because their need for more numbing leads to unexpected complications in the dentist’s chair.Aug 10, 2009
A 2004 study showed that redheads require, on average, about 20 percent more general anesthesia than people with dark hair or blond coloring. And in 2005, researchers found that redheads are more resistant to the effects of local anesthesia, such as the numbing drugs used by dentists.Aug 6, 2009
