The Like-Minders Society (LMS) is a group of people who think like me. If you are different, unconventional, and enjoy all things whacky you have now become a member. Welcome
LMS visits a number of venues in its pursuit of wisdom and mirth. This is one of them
For those who have not been here before let me explain. For those who have you are free to skip down to the waiting Rollie at Rollercoaster Central. Thalia will not let Rollie loose until she rings the bell. Do not jump on and take off before. You will be on CCTV and dealt with by Lucy. She is not nice when someone breaks the rules.
I have created this Theme Park for LMS
Bit like Disneyland but for the advancement of anything poetically offbeat.
It has a perimeter fence (just like Disneyland), containing various venues of interest (just like Disneyland) and a rollercoaster which takes you around the Park (just like Disneyland). I drive the coaster (Ronnie) and Ronnie likes to move at breakneck speeds
You will enter at the Park Entrance, say hello to Lucy, Ticket Office girl (who will issue you a free ticket). This will be checked by Thalia when you board Ronnie at Rollercoaster Central
To launch Ronnie on our journey it is an LMS tradition to ring the starting bell. Ronnie will not move until he hears it. Thalia does the bellringing
Characters joining us
Thalia – my Muse of Mirth (always by my side), Secretary, Rollercoaster Bar Girl, Bellringer
Thalia speaks in italic dialect Dialect of the Gods she says. Cultured lady
Skip – my drinking buddy
Lucy L – Ticket Office, Publicity
Lucy speaks in bold dialect
Bit rough and ready but does a good job. Downs double whiskeys
Ronnie – rollercoaster (me driving….look mum no hands)
Ready to go?
Did all say hello Lucy?
Yes Don. Quite a crowd gathering waiting for 9am opening. They can’t wait to hop aboard Ronnie
Checked all their tickets Thale? We don’t want gate-crashers
Yes Don. All present and accounted for.
OK Thalia let’s get started. Ringa da bell
Sheeeesh Thalia! you picked a different sort of ‘bell’ for us today
Sorry, all the bells were out on hire. Special event. This is all I could get
I’m sure none of our LMSers have seen one of these before. OK take it away Thale….
Wake up Ronnie…..
Buckle up folks, here we go……
I hope our bar lady Thalia kept you all supplied with G&T’s. Free on the house. Being a virtual Theme Park LMS does not require an alcohol license. How nice….
Wow! what a journey. Hope no-one is feeling too queasy
Seems OK Don. No-one looks green. You OK Terveen? Fan?
We’re going to sidetrack on our way, to the Traditional Poets Stamping Ground. Although we don’t see eye to eye I have deigned to give them a little space of their own in the Park to stamp around and do their own thing. Bad vibes between poet groups is not good.
Hello? a traditional stamper is hard at work. Let’s try again:
Oh stamper of the tradit type
Why do you stamp so hard?
You got no room left for some fun?
You too much serious bard?
“Clear off. Let me gloom-stamp in peace”
He’s still not happy with us Don
Traditional poets enjoy wallowing in doom and gloom Thale
Sounds a bit dumb to me
We have now reached the LMS Writers Corner (featured writer Undying)
I had another dream where I was an
Undying, I decided to wear
pants on my head.
Saying of the Quote
We always end with the ritual Saying of Quote . Thalia?
All heads bowed please
“Plants are more courageous than almost all human beings: an orange tree would rather die than produce lemons, whereas instead of dying the average person would rather be someone they are not.”
You may raise your heads now.
VISIT NOW OVER TILL NEXT TIME FOLKS
Well Like -Minders , that concludes our visit for today. I hope you enjoyed it and Rollie didn’t break down. That would cause a problem. You stuck on the Dive of Death loop. We’d have to get the LMS Trauma and Rescue Team out. Yes, we have our own special band of volunteers. Some parks don’t even have a T&RT. Don’t care. Get down yourself they say. We got all the ticks for safety when the Virtual Theme Park inspectors came around. During the epidemic we built a covid fence around the Park.
To get back to the Park exit you can either catch Rollie or wander back on foot. Whatever.
Say goodbye to Lucy on the way out. She will check you off the list. Don’t want you being lost amongst all this wisdom and mirth
Stay tuned for the next

Sheryl has been kind enough to let us use her song ‘All I Wanna Do is Have Some Fun – I Gotta Feeling I’m Not the Only One’ for our theme song. Isn’t she nice. She’s gonna wrap up the show on a happy note.
Ready yet? (she’s gotta organise the band)……
She’s giving me the thumbs up……
Take it away Sheryl……
