  1. I blame the supermarkets.
    Good shopkeepers of the past
    (who one by one the supermarkets
    put out of business) would demand
    quality from their suppliers in order
    to keep their customers happy.
    Today the supermarkets demand
    cheaper prices from the suppliers
    to keep their shareholders satisfied.
    Stuff quality, and bugger the poor
    consumer.
