Maidenfly

I enjoy exploring the genre of nonsense and absurd. I was at the pond watching maidenflies. It all started there

I just have seen a maidenfly
Hover o’er the water
Not a sound it did make
I then thought, should I oughta?

Hear a sound?….

Then I saw another
Hover o’er the ground
Making such a racket
(A freight-train sorta sound)

I then began to wonder was I
Coming apart at seam
Was I going bonkers or
Was it just a dream?

Lewis Carroll wrote some bonkers stuff .

Take the trilling caroler below. Have you ever heard of someone trilling? No. Bonkers Lewis. My last line would have capped it off nicely. Lewis thinks it’s a great line. He’s kicking himself…

HE trilled a carol fresh and free,
He laughed aloud for very glee:
There came a breeze from off the sea:

It passed athwart the glooming flat -
It fanned his forehead as he sat -
It lightly bore away his hat,
He muttered under breath 'oh shat!'
