FCS Daily Music Video – ‘Low Rider’ War (1977)

War (originally called Eric Burdon and War) is an American funk/rock/soul band from Long Beach, California, known for several hit songs (including “Spill the Wine“, “The World Is a Ghetto“, “The Cisco Kid“, “Why Can’t We Be Friends?“, “Low Rider“, and “Summer“). Formed in 1969, War is a musical crossover band that fuses elements of rock, funk, jazzLatinrhythm and bluespsychedelia, and reggae.

According to the AllMusic review of the song, “the lyric takes the cool, laidback image of the lowrider—the Chicano culture practice of hydraulically hot-rodding classic cars—and using innuendo, extends the image to a lifestyle”

Lyrics below

“Low Rider”

All my friends know the low rider
Yeah
The low rider is a little higher
Yeah

The low rider drives a little slower
Low rider is a real goer
Hey

Low rider knows every street, yeah
Low rider is the one to meet, yeah

Low rider don’t use no gas now
The low rider don’t drive too fast

Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip and see
Take a little trip, take a little trip
Take a little trip with me
