The World’s First Motel

In 1925 in California the first motor hotel (coined ‘motel’ by architect) in the world was built. It closed in 1991 and several buildings were demolished. The tower building (right) is now the administrative block for the adjacent hotel and a section of the cafeteria wall (left) still remains. Plans have been announced to rebuild it
