FCS Daily Music Video The House is a Rockin” Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble (1989)

Stephen Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) was an American musician, best known as the guitarist and frontman of the blues rock trio Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Although his mainstream career spanned only seven years, he is regarded as one of the most influential musicians in the history of blues music, and one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

On Monday, August 27, 1990, at 12:50 a.m, Vaughan and members of Eric Clapton‘s touring entourage played an all-star encore jam session at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy, Wisconsin. They then left for Midway International Airport in Chicago in a Bell 206B helicopter, the most common way for acts to enter and exit the venue, as there is only one road in and out, heavily used by fans. The helicopter crashed into a nearby ski hill shortly after takeoff.  Vaughan and the four others on board—pilot Jeff Brown, agent Bobby Brooks, bodyguard Nigel Browne, and tour manager Colin Smythe—died.

Lyrics below

“The House Is Rockin'”

Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
If the house is a rockin’, don’t bother, come on in

Kick off your shoes start losin’ the blues
This old house ain’t got nothin’ to lose
Seen it all for years, start spreadin’ the news
We got room on the floor, come on baby shake sumpin’ loose

Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in

Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in

Walkin’ up the street you can hear the sound
Of some bad honky tonkers really layin’ it down
They’ve seen it all for years and ‘ave got nothin’ to lose
So get out on the floor shimmy ’til you shake sumpin’ loose

Well, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother knockin’
Yeah, the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in
I said the house is a rockin’, don’t bother come on in
