The world is producing more
single-use plastic than ever before

139 million tonnes (2021)
Up from 133 million tonnes (2019)

And the waste crisis will get significantly worse
according to a damning report

The industry continued a “business as usual” approach
and that nobody has “a grip on this problem”

Negotiations on a global plastics treaty will be held
in Paris in May 2023 but no deal is expected
until 2024
