Musicians Then and Now – Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival were an American rock band between 1968 and 1972 playing ‘swamp rock’. Lead singer/songwriter John Fogerty now in his 70’s shows no sign of slowing down

Lyrics and song meaning at end

Song Meaning Basically it means you go through some tough times, but you get back on your feet and everything is all good, you’re happy, the outlook is great, it’s a beautiful day, then something bad happens again, you just deal with it. He’s asking have you ever seen the rain? yeah, it’s depressing but it goes away. Don’t think it doesn’t.

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know it's been comin' for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain a sunny day
I know shinin' down like water

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down a sunny day?

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know been that way for all my time
'Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know it can't stop, I wonder

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down a sunny day?

Yeah

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know
Have you ever seen the rain
Comin' down a sunny day?
