From the FCS Book of Little-Known Facts (NBC logo)

The NBC logo is a peacock, but why a peacock? First of all, I have to be honest; even if I had seen the logo before, I didn’t know it was a peacock until I read it here. NBC wanted viewers to switch from black and white tv to colour. Also, their slogan at the time was ‘proud as a peacock.’ The six different coloured feathers represent the six divisions in NBC.
